PTA Practice for Next Time: Talking about Wounds (January 26th)

[For the PTA class. 
A conversation between six teenagers.
十代児童六人が喋っているところです。]

Jerry: Whoa! Al! What happened to your hand?
[オッ、アルくん、な、手はどうしたん?]

Alex: My hand?
[俺の手?]

Jane: That huge bandage!
[あのバカでかいばんそうこう。]

Alex: Oh, that. It's just wrapped in gauze.
[あれか。ガーゼに包んでいるだけ。]

George: We can see that. Why?
[包んでいるってわかってる。なんで?]

Alex: I burned it.
[火傷した。]

Regina: No kidding! How'd you do it?
[ほんまやな。何やった?]

Alex: I don't want to talk about it.
[話したくない。]

Amy: He was doing unsupervised physics experiments.
[教師なしの物理実験。]

Regina: Huh?

Alex: Okay, I was playing with lighter fluid and matches.
[イヤ、マッチと点火液遊びでやった。]

Jerry: Smart, real smart.
[まったく。]

George: Must be pretty badly burnt.
[ケッコウの火傷ちゃう?]

Amy: Not really. Just 3rd degree burns on the back of the hand and fingers.
[大したものちがう。手と指の裏に3度火傷だけよね。]

Jerry: 3rd degree! Can We see it?
[3度?見せてくれ。]

Alex: No way! This bandage is here for a purpose.
[無理。この包帯をつけているワケはある。]

Regina: Does it hurt?
[痛いなの?]

Alex: Just a little.
[ちょっとはね。]

Amy: You should have heard him screaming.
[叫んでいるところを聞いたら…]

Alex: I did not scream.
[叫んでないわ。]

Amy: You know, that's actually true. He did not scream. I think he was in a state of shock.
[本当だわ。叫ばなかった。多分ショックの状態だったから。]

Jane: How long do you have to keep the bandage on?
[包帯はいつまでつけるん?]

Alex: A couple of weeks. I have to change it every day, 'though. Can't take a shower for a whole week.
[2週間ぐらい。だけど毎日替えなきゃ。シャワ何か一週間ほどできない。]

George: Eeeew! You're gonna stink!
[ゲッ。体臭がひどいやろう。]

Amy: He gets to take sponge baths.
[スポンジで拭いていいって。]

Jerry: Well, that's better than nothing.
[何もないよりはましと思う。]

Jane: Does it look gross?
[見たら気持ち悪いじゃない?]

Amy: Yeah. Charred flesh. Black and purple and red.
[うん。肉は黒焦げ。黒、紫、赤。]

Regina: I think I'm gonna be sick.
[ああ、気分わるくなった。]

Jerry: You haven't even seen it yet!
[全然見てないのに!]

Regina: Just imagining it is bad enough.
[想像するだけで十分。]

Jerry: Well don't think about it.
[想像なんかせんでいいのに。]

George: Hey, man, are you okay Al? You're looking pretty pale.
[ホラ、アルくん、大丈夫?顔が真っ青。]

Alex: Let's talk about something else.
[何か違う話していい?]
